There is more than enough to see and do in our historical and bustling town. Plus, our central location means it is the perfect base for you to explore the rest of Dorset. We have iconic hillforts, Cerne Abbas Giant and Gold Hill above and the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site below, which are all less than half an hour away by car.
Tourist Information in Dorchester
Dorchester is lucky enough to have a voluntary Super Tourist Information Point in town run at Shire Hall Museum. This central space in town offers leaflets, maps, up coming event listings for the Dorchester area. There is also a tablet with the Discover Dorchester website, there to help you make the most out of your visit.
We also have a number of attractions, shops and cafes across town who volunteer to be smaller tourist information points with a few leaflets showing the essential information to help you make the most of your time in Dorchester.
While you are exploring Dorchester look out for the Dorchester Ambassadors too. These friendly folk in the red tops have a stash of useful leaflets and timetables on hand and are very knowledgeable about the local area.
