Upcycle your old clothes with The Slow Lanes
This event is aimed at young people from ages 13 to 25.
Join Jazz from The Slow Lanes for a 2 hour introduction to visible mending. Learn to creatively repair and revamp your clothes that need some love with hand sewn upcycling techniques.
Hand stitching techniques such as sashiko, embroidery, patches and more. Be inspired to upcycle in new and experimental ways. Hand sewn upcycling is great for mental health encouraging slow stitching and accessible as all you’ll need is a needle and thread to get going.
Together we can explore ideas and problem solve mending such as holes, rips, stains etc. reviving the dying skill of mending – and helping not just to look after our planet, but to help to reconnect us with what fashion should be – fun, experimental, and a way to love and express ourselves!
All abilities welcome from complete beginner to experts – all equipment provided, just bring yourself! Please feel free to bring an item to work on or simply practice on some fabric we will have available. You will also get to go home with a goody bag of bits and pieces to let you carry projects on at home.
No experience needed.
If you book and are no longer able to attend the workshop, please cancel your ticket through Eventbrite. Places are limited and we’d like as many people to be able to attend as possible!
