‘My Diversity Flag’ workshop
Join us for My Diversity Flag, part of the acclaimed New Union Flag (NUF) project by artist Gil Mualem-Doron. The NUF reimagines the Union Jack to reflect the rich, ever-changing society we live in—celebrating the many communities that continue to shape the UK’s cultural identity.
Since 2015, this evolving artwork has brought together thousands of people through exhibitions at leading venues such as Tate Modern, Turner Contemporary, Southbank Centre, the People’s History Museum, Liverpool Museum, and more. Each version of the flag grows from the contributions of participants from diverse national, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
Now it’s your turn to take part!
In this interactive workshop, specially created for Dorchester Arts, you will:
Explore your own cultural identity through fun, guided activities.
Create a unique flag postcard using vibrant fabric-inspired sticker designs.
Add your own personal message on the back—about diversity, identity, or unity.
Choose whether to send your postcard to a politician, public figure, or organisation that could benefit from your message.
At the end of the workshop, you’ll have the chance to:
Photograph your creation in front of the New Union Flag at the exhibition.
Take home your own handheld version of the New Union Flag as a keepsake.
Open to all ages (children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult) – just £3 per place
