Live Audiobook: Far from the Madding Crowd
Join local actor Alastair Braidwood for a new and special event: a live ‘audiobook’ reading of Thomas Hardy’s famous novel Far from the Madding Crowd, performed over 7 weeks in the centre of his Casterbridge.
‘I shall do one thing in this life—one thing certain—that is, love you, and long for you, and keep wanting you till I die.’
Enjoy a drink from the bar, bring a craft to work on, or just listen in comfort as Hardy’s story of love, honour and betrayal is told in its entirety, with live music of the period. Taking over the Casterbridge Room in the King’s Arms hotel, a location used in The Mayor of Casterbridge, each evening will have about two hours of reading, with a break in the middle, followed by a flexible book-club-style discussion.
Tickets are £7, or £39 for the all 7 weeks, available from Teasel & Skylark bookshop on Trinity Street, or online.
