Hardy Literary Landscape Walk
Follow in the footsteps of Hardy’s childhood in this guided walk through Thorncombe Wood and Rainbarrows.
This is a 2 hour walk led by one of our knowledgeable volunteers. Starting outside the Visitor Centre and finishing at Hardy’s Cottage, this walk includes readings and chat along the way linking Hardy’s words to the natural surroundings of the woods and heathland.
The walk covers 2 miles in total with some uneven terrain and gentle incline in parts.
Meeting point: Meet outside Hardy’s Birthplace Visitor Centre.
What to bring and wear: Sturdy footwear recommended. Waterproof clothing advised in wet weather.
This event is free, but normal admission charges apply for the venue. Booking is not required to join the walk, only to visit inside Hardy’s Cottage.
If you would like to visit inside the cottage after the walk you will need to book a ticket. We advise booking a ticket from 1pm. Tickets for Hardy’s Cottage can be booked via our website or by phoning the booking line on 0344 249 1895.
