The Frank Griffith Quartet will be celebrating their 12th anniversary of concerts in the Dorset area on 17 September, 2022. The programme entitled, JAZZ MEETS BACHARACH, will include many well known Burt Bacharach songs by the quartet and joined on a few by Bournemouth-based vocalist, Rachel More. Dorset based pianist, Guy Gardner, a familiar face in on the Dorset jazz scene will be joined by bassist, Ron Phelan and Quinny Lawrence on drums.
Burt Bacharach continues to compose and tour the world today at age 94. Many of his classic songs that he wrote with lyricist, Hal David, like A House is Not a Home, Alfie, The Look of Love, Walk On By, Close To You and One Less Bell to Answer will be included.
American saxist and clarinetist, Frank Griffith, has been resident in the UK since 1996 and his Nonet appeared regularly at the Ealing Jazz Festival, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Pizza Express and Ronnie Scotts. He curated and led the Festival Tentet for the Billy Strayhorn Centenary Concert at Cadogan Hall as the part of the 2015 London Jazz Festival. He has recorded three CD with vocalist Tina May. Frank has also played with and/or arranged for Sir John Dankworth, Dame Cleo Lane, Kenny Wheeler, Mel Torme, Ron Carter and Lionel Hampton.
Rachel More has been a professional singer and vocal coach in the music industry for a number of years and has an extremely broad experience of both performance and teaching in a variety of musical genres including musical theatre, pop and jazz. She initially trained as a classical singer before moving on to musical theatre, pop and jazz, which led to the release of her first album, “All My Tomorrows (33 Jazz Records). Other appearances include ‘Live on the Park’, the National Theatre, Radio 4’s ‘Loose Ends’ and ITV’s ‘Meridian Tonight’.
