On the former site of Morrish & Banham wine merchants, The Pursuit of Poppiness is Dorchester’s newest wine bar. Our sister site, “The Pursuit of Hoppiness” in Bridport focuses on craft beer, but Poppiness’ focus is on sparkling wine (or “fizz”) produced in Dorset, as well as other wines, beers and ciders.
The company recently acquired Bride Valley Vineyard, just up the road, and the entire range of excellent, award-winning Bride Valley wines are on offer as well as an increasing number of natural, bio-dynamic wines. Orange wine anyone? Hazy English wine in a can?
We’re a place of fizz and fun that offers a hub for post-work drinks, wine lovers, beer enthusiasts, weekend celebrations and the perfect place to gather with friends – either before or after dinner at the numerous restaurants in Brewery Square.
Featuring large windows, bench seating, flickering candles and warm, ambient lighting, our redesigned interior provides a chic, yet cosy and relaxed environment in which to sample beautiful wines both local and from further afield. Our famous “fridge of dreams” offers an extensive range of craft beers and ciders. Dubbed “everyone’s favourite fridge”, its shelves are brimming with cans ranging from IPAs, DIPAs and pale ales to stouts, porters, sours and mixed fermentation beers. With plenty of gluten and alcohol-free options too, there really is something for everyone.
Alongside your perfect tipple, we offer a rotating grazing menu of cheese and charcuterie platters lovingly sourced from local artisan producers.
