The Hoskin family have been farming at Maiden Castle Farm for three and a half decades running beef, sheep and arable enterprises.
Farming in the footsteps of the ancient Britons, the farm includes the site of Britain’s largest and most famous pre-Roman fortress – Maiden Castle. The farm is owned by the Duchy of Cornwall and the Hoskin family came here as tenant farmers in 1987.
As well as raising livestock, we produce our own crops of Wheat, Barley, Grass and Forage Maize here on the farm to feed to our animals. Our high quality Lamb and Beef supplies the award winning local butcher, just a stones throw away in Poundbury, as well as a number of the National Retailers.
Lapwings, Corn Buntings, Hares and other wildlife find a natural haven on this chalk downland farm, where caring for the Countryside goes hand in hand with growing quality food.
