A Grade 2 listed building – C13th, possibly earlier. Two storeyed stone and brick cottage block with thatched roof. Curved on plan. Formerly three cottages, late two. Former No. 17 has higher eaves line, Hangman’s Cottage has half-dormer. Projecting brick porch. Wood casements, some lead glazing. Hipped gables.
The hangman who carried out the sentences at the “Bloody Assizes” is supposed to have lived here.
