One of two stations serving the town of Dorchester in Dorset, Dorchester South sees regular service by South Western Railway along the South Western Main Line.
Trains from Dorchester South operate on a half-hourly frequency in each direction on weekdays, northbound to London Waterloo from platform 1 and southbound to Weymouth from platform 2. On Sundays, trains depart on an hourly basis instead.
Dorchester South has recently been modernised and is fully outfitted with amenities including CCTV monitors that improve platform visuals for the train guards and new entrances to the platforms. Station facilities include bicycle storage, a paid carpark, a staffed ticket office and self-service ticket machines, toilets (accessed from platform 1), trolleys, and waiting rooms on both platforms.
Step-free access is available to platform 1 (for London) via ramp or level access from carpark and platform 2 via a ramp from a separate entrance. Dorchester South station is close to a number of shops and amenities.
