The Crafty Cuppa stands as Dorchester’s brand new community craft café. Nestled in High East Street, it invites you to savour a hot or cold beverage, engage in friendly conversations and immerse yourself in crafting activities in its charming ambiance.
This unique cafe not only offers delectable cakes but also showcases a plethora of handmade treasures crafted by local artisans. Guests can participate in workshops facilitated by Dorset educators, and groove to the tunes of nearby musicians.
Beyond its culinary and artistic delights, The Crafty Cuppa is deeply committed to serving the community. It champions local talent, provides volunteering opportunities, and hosts an array of classes aimed at promoting mental well-being through therapeutic creative endeavours.
This quiet session is just for children with sound sensitivity and cope better in a quiet environment.
Each session will have a variety of activities available for your child to choose from, from colouring to crafting, even a space to read.
This really is a group only for quiet children. I know often children have noise sensitivities but are loud themselves but this really is for children who are able to be quiet so everyone is comfortable. It’s often hard for quiet children to make friends so we hope this will be a wonderful group to help.
Jen will be at each session to help with any issues. We don’t allow parents into the workshop itself but in order to not have to fill out lots of forms we do request at least one parent per child/group stays on site in case of an issue.
Jen is DBS checked and 1st aid trained

Each session will be full of creative fun. The Children will have access to a large variety of craft materials and will be encouraged to create things they wish to create. There will be a craft planned if any child needs guidance but generally this session is designed to organically work with the child to support their interests.
Parents are asked to stay on site but not in the workshop as we have found children don’t respond as well with parents in the room. We ask for at least one parent to stay in the cafe in case there is an emergency or situation, this saves filling in paperwork.
This club is designed for children between 4 and 9 Years old.
There are so many great artists works out there, masters such as Monet or Picasso to Andy Warhol and Banksy.
Each week we will be looking at a different artist and try to use the same materials to try to create our own art inspired by that artist.
This class is aimed at 8-14yr olds.
If you have younger children who might be interested in a similar simplified class then please do get in touch.

Join Wednesday for a spooky fun filled afternoon with stories, games, craft activities, photo opportunities, goody bags, stickers and so much more!
£10 per child, no charge for the accompanying adult.
Snacks and drinks can be purchased from the cafe.
The craft activity is suitable for children aged 3+ if you would like a younger child to attend please contact us before booking so we can adapt the activity or arrange an alternative.
Parents/guardians must remain with their children throughout the event.

Come and join Amanda as she shows you how to create your own decorations from clay.
You will be using air dry clay to make your own and then decorate pre dried ones using glitters and pens.
You will be provided with all the tools you will need in the class to create several festive ornaments, perfect to hang on the tree.
Booking is essential so we know how many to cater for.
Do you love to create cards or partial to a bit of scrapbooking?
Why not bring your project along or work on something new at our papercraft club!
This is a social club for fellow crafters with lots of donated materials and tools to use to help create your projects.
We have been very fortunate to have supplies and tools donated or sold cheaply to the cafe so we can offer a social club for those who can’t afford to buy things to craft with and also to try to encourage a social environment where we are all equal.
We wish to encourage you to use the materials we have to offer but only take what you create.
Jen or Sue will be in the workshop to help with machinery, techniques or ideas you would love to try.
We hope to run this group regularly so it would be great to get your feedback.
