Romanticism and Expressionism are strong tendencies in my work as a painter. In my view, whatever media is deployed, it should serve to reinforce the idea through its intrinsic qualities.
Whether through watercolour interpretations of Hardy’s fictional Egdon Moor or through the hustle of the human condition, it pleases me if my work can resonate with the viewer on their own personal level rather than making assumptions about my intent in the undertaking. We are all struggling through our lives as best we can: When a painting ‘speaks’ in some way of that, therein lies its value.

Stella Bawden Hollis
Venue 146
///slant.moment.reminder
Hi, I am Stella Bawden Hollis, a semi abstract artist working from home in Dorchester. I spend a lot of time in, on or by the sea which features in many of my paintings. I like bold colours and patterns and build up my work over many layers. My paintings are mostly mixed media and range from 20x20cm to 100x100cm.

John A Graham Art
Venue 133
//reception.tailors.ramp
Hello, I am John A Graham. Based in West Dorset, I initially painted in watercolour, painting mainly old buildings and village and townscapes, which I exhibited in local galleries and further afield. I turned to oils as I wanted to paint bolder images and stronger colours, and this medium has given me a passion to want to paint bigger and try many new subjects. I still paint old buildings, but also fish, fruit, animals, portraits, or anything else that inspires me. The effects of light, dark and the shadows that exist between, are a very important aspect of my work. As well as exhibiting in galleries and exhibitions in the South West, I have exhibited in London and abroad.

Creative Clay for All
Venue 159
//such.sheds.delved
Hello, I am Deborah Clarke. My studio is located near Hardy’s Cottage, with countryside views. The Jurassic Coast is nearby with a coast ranging from sandy beaches to jagged dark rocks protruding from the cliffs, with glimpses of fossils. This inspires the colours, shapes and patterns used in my creations. Each piece has personality. I hand build in a variety of clays mainly firing at earthenware temperatures in an electric kiln.

Penny Treadwell Paintings
Venue 138///teach.supposes.thus
Hello. I am Penny Treadwell and live in Poundbury where I am grateful to have the Dorset countryside just around the corner, allowing me to walk below Maiden Castle and be inspired by the shapes and colours of the landscape. I am not limited to this and love remembering the atmosphere of other places and cities and creating semi-abstract impressions of these.

Alison Moore
Venue 157
///curiosity.buzzing.purified
My work is created in response to my environment and experiences. The acrylic paintings are layered to reveal depths of imagery and colour. My current work is a weekly record of textures, negative space, patterns and shapes that appeal to me, sometimes recurring, which are represented in semi abstract compositions.
