There are so many events go on across Dorchester to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III. Dorchester has deep connections to King Charles through Poundbury – King Charles’ own iconic project! See what coronation celebrations are going on over the weekend…
Friday 5th May
Start off your celebrations right…
Spend the afternoon with AgeUK for The King’s Cream Tea at Dorchester Community Church in Poundbury from 2pm-4pm. £6 per person.
Then party the night away with some classic British tunes at The King’s Arms Hotel from 6.30pm. Their Best of British DJ Night will see resident DJ Si Jubb blasting the favourites you know and love, with 2 for £15 special cocktails!
Saturday 6th May
It’s Coronation Day!
Copper Street Brewery will be kicking off their Beer Festival with Basilico pizza and a hog roast from 12pm-8pm. Booking is advised.
The King’s Arms Hotel are screening the Coronation live with a special menu for the day, including the ‘Britain on a Board’ 2-person platter which will include some of the most iconic British food. Once the Coronation has finished, local artist Chris Davies will be performing a great selection of recognisable covers on the terrace. No entry fee for the Coronation or live music
For the evening, join Dorchester Town Council at Salisbury Fields for an evening of entertainment and beacon lighting to celebrate the coronation! From 5pm, bring a picnic and enjoy entertainment from The Decadettes, Laura Sharley, and Dorchester’s schools followed by a beacon lighting at 8pm. This a FREE event, everyone is welcome!
Sunday 7th May
The fun doesn’t stop there!
Join the Dorchester Lions for their Summer Fest on The Great Field, Poundbury. From 11am-4pm, the charity fun day will feature lots of exciting fun activities and displays for all the family and help raise money for, and learn more about many local charities.
Indulge in a British classic at The King’s Arms Hotel with their delicious Sunday Roasts and specials. Book in advance to avoid disappointment.
The Copper Street Brewery Beer Festival continues with Pope Street fun, Dorset pizza, and beer!
Monday 8th May
Finish your weekend of celebrations…
… At the King’s Arms Hotel for Street food and a Live DJ. Chill out with feel good music and good for the soul flat breads. Si Jubb will be back from 3pm-6pm on the terrace. There will be a tasty selection of flat breads on offer from 12pm-9pm as well as homemade honeycomb doughnuts! First come, first serve.
Copper Street Brewery Beer Festival will be rounding things off from 12pm-8pm with the Salisbury Big Band and some delicious Dorset Pizza. And, of course, a selection of beers to end your Bank Holiday Weekend right.
